sometimes i admire those fanatic girls who relentlessly chase after stars and idols, so much that they can ignore everything else that is happening around them. The only thing that would matter to them is to catch a glimpse of their idol. It seems that sometimes everyone would get star-struck once in a while, while this of course does not equate to a true and real romance but this enables us to at least dream and become part of a romance that we can but only dream. In real life, these melodramatic, soap-opera like skits would never take place.
while watching meteor garden, yes girls i am but 1 year late, but at least i can continue watching the rest of the episodes instead of having to wait for a whole year. but the truth is that even i felt touch. Doesnt every girl want a fairytale like relationship? yet in many cases its just the practical ones that last, those who desire more cant last, and that's when pop idols come in. Many people would rumour about gays who act as heroes in our daily feed of soap operas but it is of course rumours and even these heroes arent real. they have their own lives and we have our lives. behind all the glitz and fame, there is but more. we however only see the story they paint for us to see, not the pain in the production of the film or the real life of these hectic pop-stars.
what we see is but a reality that we want to believe it. in other words, the shows we watch are just catering to what we want to see, but never the truth. in truth, they are but ordinary people who are selling a slice of their life for the namesake of fame.
but even i, a skeptic of love and a self-declared non-idol fan do agree that in some cases some idols portray themselves with dignity and romance that even i would feel that i would love to be part of this romance, even if it meant just only through the duration of watching the show. meteor garden was what i had at first coined as a corny lovey dovey show that i would never watch, that's why there's the big time difference in watching things that are outdated. i always see it as, if i watch something first hand when its' popular, i'ii be bias to it. and yet, i must say that the show with its apt timing of the love songs that really touched me, made a big impact on me, so much that i watched the whole series at one sitting. then rewatched the series a few days later. yes... 20hrs in one sitting. thats one swell of a butt-numbing situation.
yet, the characters do touch on the idea that every ordinary girl can become something more then what they are already. barbie xu sheds her glamourous outlook to act as the plain shan cai which really impressed me, that everyone is but equal and the same and if you really tried you can be more then you are at this moment. so never give up looking cause you never know what might happen when you turn the corner tomorrow. in anycase just enjoy it now while you can. believe that you can do it.
